Rebecca Aughton - National Bra Fit Expert
The foundation for Rebecca Aughton’s fashion and retail career began at home – in her parents’ fabric shop.
As a child growing up in rural Metro Detroit, Michigan, Rebecca was first trained in the art of style, textures and fit by her parents, who served their region of Michigan with the finest in fabrics. So it came as no surprise to anyone when she chose a career in retail and fashion, an industry which she would work her entire career in.
After graduating from Western Michigan University, with a degree in Merchandising and Marketing, Rebecca worked for Chanel, first as Metro DC’s cosmetics coordinator. After a fateful conversation with Chanel’s then-president, Rebecca found herself being selected to be transferred to the luxury house’s Metro DC ready-to-wear division as its Washington DC’s Chanel Boutique Assistant Manager.
Her knowledge of fashion and retail led Rebecca to move on to Silhouette/Hugo Boss as manager and sales trainer, for the Metro DC stores. As time moved on Rebecca felt a move was needed and she landed a position with Estee Lauder as an account executive in their Philadelphia region. A transfer to a new account brought her to New York City. An opportunity to move to the intimate apparel industry as Sales Manager was an offer too good to pass up. This opportunity brought her to Stirling Brands, Inc. (now Eveden), a British bra manufacturer world renowned for perfection in the craft of bra making in an extensive size range. As she served as the U.S. sales manager; she was immersed into the world of bra construction for the full-busted and full-figured woman. While at Eveden, Rebecca met and worked with Rigby and Peller owner June Kenton, a world-renowned custom bra-maker and fitter to royalty around the globe, including Elizabeth II, the Queen of England. She had the opportunity to visit lace manufactures and learn more about the trade and bras were designed with different types of lace.
In September 2001, armed with knowledge from the bra industry and experience at some of the world’s most prestigious luxury labels, Rebecca came home to Michigan and opened Bra~vo intimates, one of the finest specialty bra fitting shops in the country. Soon, Bra~vo intimates, has become a premiere destination for women looking for an education on how a bra fits and what style and size is best for her. Women travel up to 2 ½ hours to get fitted at this bra fitting Mecca.
In the fall of 2017 Rebecca was selected to attend the exclusive Goldman Sachs 10K Small Businesses program at the Wayne State campus. The program gave her a mini MBA in Entrepreneurship. The program is an intense business program that afforded her the opportunity to plan the future expansion of Bra~vo intimates with a team of experts from Goldman Sachs.
“I’ve always followed my dreams, says Rebecca. “From those days of working with incredible fashion pieces, to learning about correct fit from the world’s best bra designers. All the opportunities I have whether it be for Chanel, Hugo Boss, Estee Lauder and Eveden; I bring all that experience to Bra~vo intimates, when I’m in the fitting room and in how I train my team of fitters .”
Approaching two decades after opening Bra~vo intimates, Rebecca is still as passionate about ensuring that every woman receives the Bra~vo experience and bringing her customers the largest size and style selection in the state.
