Fitting the Full-busted Woman
The full-busted woman can have a band size of 42, 36, 34, or even 30. However, it is actually a cup size of DD or larger that makes her “full-busted”. Today, many manufacturers, especially in Britain, finally recognize this customer.
A properly fitting bra for the full-busted woman should make contact at every point along the underwire; meaning that it must not bow out at the center bottom or poke forward at the top of the cup. The underwire is the framework of the garment; therefore, it should lie against the body giving the cup its shape, not be the support of the garment. The support of your garment comes from the underband. That area must be low in the back, staying even with the bottom of the underwire in the front. The entire back band should be firm and fit very snug against the back. This is where 90% of your support is coming from and proper fit takes pressure off the shoulders!
We find that each bra brand has a specialized fit and some styles are better for one body frame over another. For the full busted woman we recommend the brands Fantasie, Panache, Prima Donna, Anita, Chantelle, Freya, Fayreform and Jeunique.
Fitting the Full-Figured Woman
The full-figured woman can be a B, D, F or GG cup. It is the band size of 38 and beyond that makes her a full figure size. More and more manufacturers are designing great support bras and fashionable bras for the full-figured woman!

For the full-figured woman, we recommend a wide underband that will help anchor the bra. With the wider band, the pressure from a firm band is then spread along a larger area giving the wearer more comfort.

Proper Bra Care
Every good bra manufacturer will tell you NOT to put your underwire bra into either the washer or dryer. Both machines are equally damaging to the garment. The best way to care for your bra is to launder it after each wearing soaking it for an hour or so in mild detergent; and preferably using an organic wash. After the soaking, rinse your bra and hang it to dry. (Contour bras–those with the formed foam cups–should be formed back into shape after washing, hung to dry, and then placed on a hook/hanger in your closet for storage instead of in a drawer.)
Why you should wash your bra after each wearing: Your bra’s job is to lift the bust. At the end of the day, the underband is stretched out and needs to be washed to be put back into its proper place to be ready for its job the next day. If you wear your bra several times without washing it, the stretched out underband will ride up in the back and put undue pressure on the underwires. This process is usually what helps to break and bend the underwire and ruining your bra.
Why you should use an organic washing solution: Many of your garments today are made from synthetic fabrics and some of those fabrics act like a sponge with liquids. Today’s laundry soaps are petroleum-based, and if left in the fabric will deteriorate the fabric and the stretch out the elastic. Organic detergent rinses out more thoroughly and will not deteriorate the fabric or trims of the garment. Washing your bra organically will give your bra the chance to better support you for a longer period of time!
How to care for other intimate items
The best way to launder your lingerie and other intimate items is to put them in a garment bag, wash them with organic detergent with the gentle cycle and then hanging to dry thoroughly.
